How exactly do I go about getting my doc to prescribe DHEA drops??

  • #2
Ask them to call in a prescription to Leiter's or another compounding pharmacy (Leiter's is the most commonly used for opthalmic preparations)

Chances are your doctor will have no idea what you are talking about. I would bring in any research that you can find and tell him that you are concerned about androgen levels and your past use of Finasteride. Getting some information/research on side effects of Finasteride will also help your case.

    HTH,
    Gretchen

I asked to try DHEA drops about 1.5 years ago, and the ophthamologist I was seeing at that time flat out refused to give a prescription stating it was a steroid. I asked the next ophthamologist I saw, and that one just shook his head no, never heard of it, and wasn't calling it in. I gave up after that.
