  • Herrick plugs: how do you know they're still there?

I think i had herrick plugs a couple of years ago. I looked at the doctor's records, and it only says silicone plugs. but i remember he had a little inserter device that he used, and it kind of looked like it on the herricks website. He also had to get a small one for my left eye. Last time I went to the doctor they said they couldn't see them. I thought they just flush out? Could it be embedded and they can't see it. that would annoy me. how do they know yours is embedded. can they see it? i heard that they can irrigate it out, is that effective?

Transillumination of the eyelid should allow them to locate the plugs. Irrigation is usually successful, though not always (you'll find some of the exceptions on this bulletin board).
