Plugs = Re-apply gel drops entire day?

I consider to try plugs, but will I get the same result from applying long lasting gel drops once every hour or so?

From what I've heard, part of the allure of plugs are that they allow your own natural tears to stay in your eyes. No drop is going to have the perfect formula with all the oils, mucin, water like your own body. But I know it's different for everybody, I'm sure you'll get other more well informed answers!

Thanks for the reply. A long time ago I tried normal basic eye drops without any luck. Then I learned about these gel-drops that supposedly last for 4-6 hours, didn't really work.
But now I try to apply it each hour and it seems to help a little bit.
