cost of punctal plugs in australia?

Can anyone tell me how much they paid for punctal plugs in Australia and did they get anything back on medicare or private health.

My son had them done in Sydney Children's Hospital earlier this year. He needed a G.A. as he has a huge phobia of medical intervention. We had no out of pocket expenses, he did go in as a private patient and our health fund covered it completely as the Dr claimed directly from them.

Wagnermid, How do I go about claiming punctal plugs on my health fund, exactly? So far, optometrists I've seen have said that I can't claim for them.

Hi, Sorry he had the done by an Ophthalmologist as an inpatient in hospital I'm not sure that an optometrist would be able to claim, but I think they would have been free as an outpatient through the hospital eye clinic.
