  • is redness common with new plugs?

I got plugs in my lowers yesterday. I think they are the ones that are inserted way down in the punctal canal as I can't see them. My eyes - esp the right one were already red when they were inserted. They still are. The inner corners of my eyes are also a bit more red looking, altho so far no swelling. I've read some people are sensitive to the plug material, I'm wondering if my redness may subside?

I experience eye redness near the plug for about 4-5 days and they it went away, I have the kind where you can see the head though. The rest of my eye seemed fine.

You should let your doctor know. But it took me about 3 weeks to get used to my plugs, upper and lower. My uppers are the kind you mention, intracanicular, these were especially irritating to me at first. The lowers helped me alot. Getting the uppers, although I now drip here and there, really pushed me into a level of more comfort. But it took several weeks until I liked them.
