  • plugs negatively affecting the lacrimal glands?

i read somewhere that plugs can cause the lacrimal glands to slow down in producing tears because the body sees the dry eyes as baseline so to maintain what it thinks is homeostasis, tear production slows down after a few weeks of having plugs so that is why plug relief can often only be temporary. however, i have never been told this by doctors. has anyone heard if this? does this always happen or just sometimes?
    thanks!

I have heard the same thing but never saw any research supporting it. Personally, I have not seen a reduction in tear production since getting plugs. The plugs just let what tears I have stay around a bit longer.
Every day with DES is like a box of chocolates...You never know what you're going to get.

I have had plugs for several months and they are wonderful. I did not experience anything like that.
