  • Can plugs be surgically made to stay in?

I have had the biggest plugs put in both eyes numerous times, and they keep falling out every few weeks... I go back again in a couple weeks, and I dont know what he is going to be able to do. Can they be made to stay in by doing sumthing surgically? Or sumthing...

I cant stand to even open my eyes and be awake without them in.

If punctal plugs come out, alternatives include intracanalicular plugs or surgical closure of the ducts. Surgically holding the plugs in sounds like it would carry some pretty serious dangers. I know people who have been cauterized when they had plugs in that the doctor was not aware of and the outcomes are not pretty. - You might want to talk to the doctor about some kind of 6-month dissolving intracanalicular plug and see if that works better.
