  • eyes feeling better after i stopped Restasis

I just have not had much luck with my dry eyes but some days my eyes wouldn't feel too bad then i would put in the Restasis then what a mess! My dry eye was diagnosed Dec. 2008 I started Restasis then. I have used it every since & tried to stop a couple times but if eye pain got bad I would put it in thinking it would help. i figure since my eyes still show zero tears in left eye and still a 3 in the right that the Restasis wasn't helping and it always had some burning. I stopped the Restasis a couple weeks ago and so far so good! It does seem like i have much less of the mucus or goo or whatever you want to call it that makes me miserable. So I have to wonder is it possible the Restasis could break down the mucus between the eyelid and the eye? i feel so much better not having all that goo in my eyes all the time it was really getting so bad. also, now the whites of my eyes arent all red ad the lids are not all swollen. also i had rad where the Restasi only increases tears in about 15% of people if this is correct and i figure the increase shoud have happened by now. i use artificial tears, genteal gel, warm compress and if i have a real bad eye day i put in a lacrisert till the pain lessens. I hope my eyes continue to do better i am not doing well handling this at all. I feel like the terminator in these glasses and just don't feel pretty anymore. I know it sounds vain and I am thankful for my health but I am just saying......

I don't think it's vain to mention not feeling pretty anymore... it's hard when we can't look the way we used to...

But, one plus to wearing dark goggles/sunglasses is that you can people-watch with no worries of people knowing you're looking at them haha

And besides, the Terminator that was trying to save John Connor was awesome!

Well, now that you've mentioned it, why not?? If anyone gives you a second glance, just give them a stern glare from behind your rockin' Terminator shades lol

I know... easier said than done... but oh well

I wear my goggles in casinos sometimes if it's very smoky. I also wear them shopping etc. Sometimes ya' just gotta suck it up and do what you have to do. Lucy

Lucy, so you don't have to wear your goggles all the time?

I enede up going back on the Restasis. It may not increase tears for me but must just a bit to some extent cause when I go too long without it I get those terrible scratches on my eyes so back on it for now. Wish icould find come relief i really feel like all this heat is whats bothering me i was doing so well.

Restasis irritates my eyes too but I'm worried that if I stop taking it I'll end up with disabling dryness. I'm really not sure if the Restasis has helped out or its all of the other stuff that I've been doing or the fact that its been almost 14 months since my lasik. I feel better than 6 months ago but still not good. Making sure to only take a small drop in each eye now, was using a bit too much before which probably added quite a bit to the irritation.
