  • Restasis in the UK

    Hello,

Does anybody have any information on the availibility of Restasis in the UK please? A while back there were posts regarding problems with the licence to manufacture it but not heard anything since. When I went for my dry eye assessment at the dry eye centre in London the optometrist told me that they were no longer making at Moorfields, a version was available but apparently its different and causes stinging on application and so no one wants to be prescribed it, I was hoping this could be an option for me as worried about long term use of doxycycline.

    Thank you

I had the Moorfields version and couldn't tolerate it. Luckily I got it on the NHS because it was VERY expensive privately although I feel guilty for the amount they gave me seeing as it was wasted. I can't help but think Restasis won't be available widely on the NHS in the near future because it's probably costly and doesn't have a particularly high success rate. Optimmune is the best we will get for now I fear.
