I have had MGD for 6 years or so and was wondering whether the Restasis has been helpful for bringing down lid inflammation? The ad on tv mentions that it helps with dry eyes caused by inflammation, do they mean MGD?

Well, since no one else replied, I'll stick my neck out:
No, Restasis is not directly meant for MGD or for lid inflammation. It's anti-inflammatory action is on the occular surface. It could still help a lot though, just by easing the load.
They'll prescribe the Restasis for severely dry eyes caused by MGD, and it could help alot, but it doesn't treat the underlying MGD.
If you never treated the MGD, and just used Restasis I doubt it would be enough to give you healthy tears, comfortable eyes, or lids that aren't inflamed. But treat the MGD and use Restasis to help you heal and you might have much better success than without the Restasis.
