  • How to get restasis if u live in the UK?

lots of ppl told me to get a prescription first, n then contact the so-called international pharmacy.

what about online? i have seen some US websites selling restasis, you dont even need to get a prescription. all you should do is just describe your syptoms so that doctors on the website knows whether u could use it or not.

has anyone tried this before? i really dont want to see a specialist here privately just for a prescription(they might not even give you as i heard in many cases). if i could get restasis in this way, that would be great.
    I believe I can fly!

the other thing is although most online pharmacy require prescription for restasis, how do they know if u say u got prescription when actually u dont?
    will they check?

some eye doctors i saw here have never heard restasis before( unbelievable!!!! ). so i think it would be really hard to convince them to prescribe it for me. thats why im so desperate to get this drug without prescription

      Hi robinzb

I know exactly where your comming from i was in the same position as you last year.

I ordered my restasis from www.edrugnet.com, ive been using it for 3 months now it is the real stuff. And you DONT need an rx!

Here is the thread where its talked about http://www.dryeyezone.com/talk/showthread.php?t=2442

I think its amazing that most eye doctors havent heard of restasis in the UK. I think it just goes to show what they know about dry eye really doesnt it, if they cant be bothered to keep informed about the next generation of treatment, its worrying, its not even like its only just been approved (2002).

            hey,

I have started to use prednisolone sodium phosphate 0.05% which was precribled by my doctor a couple of months ago. i ve seen many ppl using steroid and restasis at the same time to get better results. hope with the anti-inflammation effect of steroid I would feel less discomfort when applying restasis in a few days time.

I have gone through some of ur posts. It looks like our DEZ have a lot in common. Have u tried Clarymist spray? It is used for MGD. Sometimes it works for my burning, sometimes it doesn’t, but so far it is the best drugs I’ve tried to restore my lipid layer.

Also I used to have this burning sensation in the morning after shower or even after wiping eyelid with cloth, but now I try to avoid touching my eyelid, I don’t even use facial washing that often coz it just makes my face feel dry and burning sensation in my eyes comes back.

You probably know this but just in case: It is very important that you have your eye pressure monitored regularly if you are taking steroid drops.

Yes it does sound like we have a simular problem.. Ive said that to quite a few young people lately that have MGD. There must be some connection thats linking us young people who have MGD, like Dr latkany said this is next big group he sees. (but the focuss seems to be on menapuasal women not us )

I have tried claramist, i find it stings and can make my eyes feel worse, i dont think ive used it on a long enough basis yet. unfortunately out of everything ive tried nothing seems to help (improve it), apart from as a pallative, hot compresses help for about an hour/ goggles help/shower helps but it is short lived- im 22 im not leaving the house in goggles, if i was older i wouldnt mind coz people expect older people to have disabilities etc, i would feel so depressed its not worth it.

If you read my posts about face pain (it makes my eyes feel completely normal), this is why i think nothing is helping me, coz i need a treatment which addresses the signals on my eyes which tells your eyes to produce oil etc like diquafosol or repbamide (sp?), face pain is some how stimulating the signals.

but i remain hopefull that the cream will help.

Do hot compresses help? what is the cause/s of you dry eye? mine were anti depressansts and contacts.

Thanks Rebecca, im gonna see my ophthalmologist on 8th of Aug. In case he refuses to prescribe the combination of steroid and restasis, I try this before going to see him so that I could convince him with the result (hopefully its positive). I will have my eye pressure checked at that time.

The steroid is prescribed by him anyway. I just didn’t use all of them as I think steroid alone wont do any good for me. Short-term relief is not what im looking for.

I understand. However (and setting aside the Restasis question for just a moment) it's my understanding that a short course of steroids can still make good sense in terms of helping get inflammation under better control after which you rely on other lower-risk methods (possibly including Restasis) to further improve & maintain it. I'm not saying that's the solution, just that as a part of a treatment strategy at least in many cases it can be more than just a short-term feelgood.

I used to wear swimming goggle when going out. It was so embarrassing, some ppl just kept staring at me or even laughing, so after couple of weeks trail without major success, I stopped. Now I am using panoptx when Im out, it doesn't help much esp it deoesn’t fit my face quite well (I bought it from internet), but its better than without it.

About Clarymist, when I first applied it, it didn’t feel quite well as I always squeezed just a bit so that I could save some money. Then when I realized this crap was not as good as I thought I start to press the spray hard, and thats when I start to feel good as the liquid is not only sprayed to my eyelid but also the skin around ur eyes.

About the face pain, similarly, I got this full feeling for my right eye and cheek for about a year. Currently the full feeling is ok, but right jaw start to be painful, cant chew food properly sometimes. At first I thought I got this Sjorne disease, so I asked my GP for blood test, all fine. Then I asked for lip test, cant be done in GP’s clinic, so now still waiting for the appointment to see the specialist. Sometimes I just feel like there is no end for various test and treatment esp when NHS is so so so inefficient. There is no problem to see ophthalmologist privately. But I cant afford see all specialists privately esp when some expensive tests are need. I thought about private health care insurance, but its quite expensive and it doesn’t cover ur dry eye as it's a pre-existing symptoms, so I gave up in the end.

Anyway, like u said, still got hope, just don't know where the end is.

Yea you dont think your gonna need health insurance at this age do you, you think the nhs will help, but it dont.

Do you have lots of inflammation? i reckon if your dry eye is caused by inflammation there is more that can be done to help than if its not caused by inflammation, i.e omega3/doxy/restasis/progesterone cream.

well, i think this is bilateral thing. dry eye causes inflammation, inflammation worsen dry eye. so every DE sufferer should have inflammation. i have tried omega3/doxy/steroid/ various anti-biotics eyedrops. im going to try restasis, its on its way... but progesterone cream... should guys try this?
