Having just read about the dangers of BAK, I am a little concerned. My Dr. recently put me on this to "calm things down" after my eyes worsening with spk noted. I am taking this Lotemax (preserved with BAK 0.01%) 3x a day for at least two more weeks. I have faith in my Dr. , just wondering if I should be on the lookout for anything?

From what I have read, short term use of BAK will not cause permanent harm. I use Lotemax and Patenol off and on when things really flare and have not had any problems. Both contain BAK. I figure the relief they provide far outweigh the risks of short term exposure to BAK. But that is just my opinion.Every day with DES is like a box of chocolates...You never know what you're going to get.
