  • Sometimes blood when i've got sclerals

    Hello to all again,
I have another question for sclerals wearers:
    Sometimes when i wear the sclerals i see that i've got blood vessels in the inside of my eyes;
    I mean:
Where the eye is covered by sclerals is white , instead in the inside of the eyes (near to nose ) sometimes i've blood vessel that not hurt me i only see the eyes a little bit red ( only in the inside, not where are covered by lenses).
I only want to say if happens someone of you and if is normal?
    Thanks.

    I have the same

i have it sometimes, not all the days. Im going well with the lenses and really have perfect vision with them, but i had to change my glasses prescription after wearing the lenses for 2 months. (got more astigmatic correction over my nearsighted)

I was wondering if the sclerals are worn 24hrs a day and how long does a pair theoretically last? Also, what makes them so different than lets say regular contact lenses or gas permeable lenses?

Re: vessels. I have a prominent blood vessel at the upper left of my left eye and it always seems to be more prominent during & immediately after wearing my lens. I don't really know but I suspect a teensy bit of compression on the sclera can make it appear this way.

        Sclerals cannot be worn overnight.

A lens can theoretically last for years but will probably need to be resurfaced after some time.

Sclerals are gas permeable lenses which vault the cornea and hold an insulating layer of fluid over the entire cornea. All other contacts rest ON the cornea. When the cornea is dry, that's not a good idea.

I push, but not very hard, just before releasing it from the inserter. I think that when I was trained (long time ago now) I was told to give it quite a bit of pressure.

Ok thanks Rebecca I have another question for you:
Yesterday when i woke up i felt pressure on my eyes and i felt like heavy eyes when i winked (open n close the eyes, i think it calls blinking) and my eyes was more red than usual.
So i prefer to stay without lenses for today since the eyes are still red and heavy .What does it depended?

I thought maybe i'm wearing too times the lenses?!

Beacause at saturday for example i wear the lens for more than 10 hours because i insert in the morning, i take out and reinsert in the evening before to go out, and i keep the lenses for more 5-6 hours.. but i hadn't trouble wearing.
                Are there wearing time restrictions??

                i
