  • Scleral lenses question

    I had a visit to my doc for Scleral lenses.He sugeested that Scleral lenses might cause
    allergies to ur eyes and might not be suitable for travelling.
    Also wanted to know that does scleral lens suitable for Lasik patients.

    Unfortunately many doctors don't have current information on sclerals.

    They have been used to restore vision and/or to deal with dry eye for many lasik patients over the years... including myself.

    I have never heard of them causing allergies, though that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I would have though ocular allergies would probably fare well with the lenses because the cornea is completely shielded from allergans, but that's not to say someone might not actually have a problem with the lens itself. I would suggest calling BFS (bostonsight.org) for facts on disadvantages or risks of the PROSE lenses.
