i've been wearing sclerals from boston for a couple of years and my vision is amazing; however, i have started to grow a severe intollerance to the lens. under my lids the doctor said i am forming very un-smooth and bumpy under lids. my eyes are constantly red even with the use of medical drops that clear them up great, until i put the lens' back on. so now i am going to try the hybrids to see if my eyes can tolerate them more. i have kerataconus with mild to severe status. has anyone else had this issue of going from scleral to hybrid?

I moved your post out of the archives to make it more visible.
I don't think I recall reading of anyone making that switch. It will be interesting to see how it goes for you.
The problem you've been having, has it been described to you as GPC? That is always a risk with contacts. I have a chronic issue with a GPC-type condition in my left eye and I've worn sclerals for 5 years. I used to go through periods when it would get quite bad and I'd go on steroid drops or mast cell stabilizers for awhile, but I have found I can usually keep it from getting to that point by changing my routine a little. Over-wear seems to be the biggest issue so I try to take a 'day off' from lenses when I can and not wear them quite as many hours a day. At the very earliest sign of a flare-up I stop wearing the lens and load up on my favorite drop (Dwelle) for awhile and it usually calms right back down. But I have to watch it.
What drops are you talking about for clearing up the redness?Rebecca Petris
