I decided to give sclerals a try. Emory university contact lens dept. in Atl offers the service. They do not accept insurance . Total cost $ 2,500 for all the fittings and lenses. should you decide it is just not for you, you can get a refund of all but $500. The lenses are supposed to last for years.
So far I am only on the first pair, ( you get fitted and then re- fitted till they are totally correct.) I am cautiously optimistic. I had RK years ago, and my corneas are badly scarred. I will let everyone knows how it goes.
I had my upper ducts cauterized recently and it has worked out. I hope this will be another positive step as well.
