I have a question if anyone is willing to help? I am trying celluvisc for a fill solution but when I do, the solution is so thick that it is hard to see through the lens clearly plus they only come with small single use vials. Anyone else have that issue with celluvisc? I like using unisol because it is so easy to use if I spill, but has anyone had experience with celluvisc?

Hi grandsporta, I use Thera tear gel in my scleral lenses, they are 18mm and they don't fog at all (not even after 11 hours). Perhaps you could try mixing saline along with the celluvisc so it's not so thick.
My lenses are 18mm and I do find it a challenge putting them in. It can take awhile, especially if there are bubbles after application and removal and insertion has to be repeated. I use a thin tissue wrapped around one of my fingers to get enough grip to pull the lower eyelid down and another finger to push the upper lid upward...opening as wide as possible whilst looking down at a mirror. Then I focus my eyes in the middle of the lens applicator. It's not for the impatient!!

Hi!
I'm thinking about getting the scleral lenses. I had a question about scleral lenses and contacts in general.
How does one know if their use is damaging the eye? Would we feel it? My soft lenses were so dry years ago, they were actually difficult to get off without remoisturising the surface of the eye. Obviously, that isn't good. Did such situations damage my eye, and how would I know it (other than the obvious clue of a dry contact)? I just worry that some damage may occur, that we do not necessarily feel, due to the eye's construction, or previous desensitizing of nerves from long-term contact use. I know such circumstances would seem less likely with scleral lenses, due to the nature of those lenses, but maybe they too can damage the eye without us sensing it.
On a broader question, if we are on the computer, and our eyes become red (that doesn't happen anymore with me due to using goggles), was that just a case of irritation, mild with no long lasting effects, or were these symptoms, the burning sensation and reddened eyes, actually something that can lead to long-term effects, that even though I've corrected it now, the symptoms, that maybe there were cumulative effects that I am unaware of. I had problems with red eyes and computers for 5-10 years and maybe longer. I never liked the feel of computer screens on my eyes, even in the late 1990s.
I'm in my mid-forties now.
Best Regards,
Joe

Hi everyone,
I use a mixture of celluvisc and unisol in my scleral lenses as well. The trick I have learned is to slowly drop the celluvisc into the lens, drop by drop (about 4 drops per and then top it off with unisol. I also condition the lenses prior to insertion with Boston Conditioner. It is supposed to "slick" up the lenses and make them less irritating since my tear film is so thin. So, the million dollar question-- does it work?? Some days better than others..... For me the jury is still out. My vision is excellent but the wearability is uncomfortable. And, I too, am worried about damage to the eye with continued use. I have an appointment with my corneal specialist in about two weeks and will let you know what she suggests.
