Hi Everbody:
Hope everyone is doing well! Happy belated b-day Rebecca.
It has been some time since I last posted. My eyes are still dry but my mental state is much better so hooray for that . I am also working again which is really helping me improve psychologically (as well as financially!!!-hehe)
I recently went up to Boston to consider the scleral lens. I am an interesting case, 26 w/primary Sjogrens. Positive ANA but negative Sjogrens antibodies. I deferred the lip bx. Oddly I have 0 corneal staining on examnination so I am a symptom versus sign case. I am also double plugged. I can also stand contacts in my eyes but have problems with computer usage, reading, etc. I also cry when outdoors assumingly from the dryness.
The staff up in Boston was great as expected. The scleral lens however didn't really change my eye dryness. I was dissappointed but know in my heart that with time a cure for all of us will come---just have to be patient. Also I write this hoping NOT TO DISCOURAGE anyone with the scleral lens. There have been true miracles with the scleral lens---in fact I meet some up in Boston during my visit.
I am due for a checkup with Dr. L next week and am going to ask him about Lacriserts or blood serum. I am also thinking about re-starting restasis. My immune system has calmed down recently (my ana is negative currently) so I think giving restasis another go is worth a shot. Any other recommendations are gladly welcomed. I sleep well at night so daytime is my main problem.
Best of luck to you all and hope to hear from you!
