  • ? For scleral users

    Hi All:

Went to the BSF several months ago and didn't seem to have a response to the scleral lenses. Perhaps I was wanting too much. Should the impression if the scleral lens works or not be instantaneous. I really don't have much pain except when I am using the computer or doing anything that involves staring. Just want to see if I should give them a second try.
If life is a bowl of cherries, then why I am I stuck in the pits!

Not sure if it is instantaenous, or not. I have been at the clinic 3 times. I have Boston Scleral Lens. The third time was for a re-fit of my left lens which never was wearable. It still isn't. I was there for 5 days one year ago where they exclusively worked on my left lens. I knew it didn't fit right, but there was nothing they could do to make it right after many tries. I don't want to put in negatives unnecessarily, but this is not a solution in all cases. I would have stayed longer than 5 days and offered to, but they sent me on home. I may approach this again, but it's a long way and much $$ in travel unless you live nearby and then it's a different story.

There aren't any hard and fast rules but I think that most people who are going to be benefitted by the lens will notice enough benefit from a decent trial lens to decide whether it's going to help or not. I also think, personally, that for people with dry eye, the symptoms need to be fairly severe and constant for the BSL to be the 'right' solution. (Symptoms might be pain, light sensitivity, whatever.) Just my $0.02. By the way - sending you a PM, Kim.
