  • Sclerals and conjunctiva

    Hi everybody,

I've seen a doctor yesterday and he suggested that I should try sclerals. So I have seen a specialist today and he told me that sclerals are defineatly wrong for me. My cornea is healthy but I have lots of red swollen blood vessels which cause the major part of my pain (pressure) and I need to find something against them. I always thought sclerals might help but that specialist told me today that they would make my conjunctiva even more inflammed. I'm very sad right now because I thought I could benefit from sclerals esp. because hard lenses made my eyes more red so I thought bigger lenses might help.
Anyway, for you scleral wearers out there: Do sclerals make you eyes redder/more inflammed? I mean is there a benefit except for the cornea healing (which I don't need)????
    Thank you!

Stephgurl, I can't speak as to whether you should/should not have sclerals. But, sclerals are not a sure cure for any of this stuff. I have them but cannot wear the left one because it hurts my eye. I need the left one more than the other one.

With what your doctor told you, you need to approach this carefully and thoughtfully. Perhaps seeking second opinions. I wish you good luck. Lucy
