Determined to make sclerals work

I am determined this time to make sclerals work this time. For those who use them can u instill a thicker drop to fill them like dakrina or refresh? What about using lacriserts concurrently with them? Do u think they will get upset if I bring my own drops to fill them rather than having them filled with unisol (too thin for my dry eye)? There has to be something to help me with this dry eye!!!

Any lubricants need to be cleared with the lens fitter...Can't imagine they'd be upset about you bringing something of your own just a matter of clearing it with them as something they feel is safe & effective to use with the lenses. I may be mistaken but I am thinking that lacriserts are not supposed to be used with sclerals. I know they often recommend Refresh Celluvisc to fill the lenses (usually topped off with Unisol).

I wear Boston scleral lenses and also use Celluvisc throughout the day. I have never thought about using the Celluvisc to fill the lenses. Does this make a difference? Also, do you think that the Celluvisc could damage the coating on the lenses in any way?

Part of the point of using Celluvisc (or, in my case, Dwelle) in the lens is that a more viscous substance in the lens inhibits mucous etc. getting under the lens. I know BFS don't believe either of these drops will damage the lenses in any way. The only things I've heard of specifically as problems with the lenses are ointments, because they will stick to the lenses even if only used at night when you're not wearing the lenses, and abrasive cleaners.

Thanks! I have just reinserted my scleral lenses with some celluvisc drops mixed with unisol. I really thought that my vision would be blurred, but it's not. I hope this will give me better relief.
Now I am wondering if I could put Restasis drops into my lenses as well. I wonder if that would help.

Definitely a no-no for any prescription drop unless advised by a doctor very experienced with sclerals.
