  • Air ventalated vs fluid ventalated sclerals

Wondered if anyone knew the difference (in layman's terms) between air ventalated vs fluid ventalated sclerals. I have extreme dry eyes and going up to Boston but not the BFS for sclerals. These are air ventalated. Kinda doing last minute worrying.

These questions are best answered by whoever is providing you with the lenses.

I am not very familiar with those terms but I would assume it to mean fenestrated vs. not fenestrated. Fenestrations are holes in the lenses that let oxygen in. There are other designs (such as the BSL) which provide oxygen through a certain amount of fluid exchange under the lens during wear.

      Sclerals

I did f/u with Dr. Cotter and found out that mine were fluid ventalated. Thanks though!
