  • SLK and surgery. Any advice

My eye doctor tells me that along with numerous other eye problems I have SLK. He wants to do surgery for this, but he wants a second opinion to agree with him first. I saw a specialist at Stanford last December and he said I was not a good candidate for this procedure because my eyes were so dry it would not heal well. Since then my doctor, who I trust very much, has said I could end up the corneal melt if the incision did not heal well and I could end up with a hole in my cornea and need to have it replaced with a cadaver cornea. I now have a referral to go to UCSF eye clinic. Has anyone had this problem or surgery?

I have extremely dry eyes; I do not produce any tears at all. But with the multitude of medications, supplements and other stuff, I am on I have more good moments, not entire days, than I use to. I went from wanting this done to thinking I could end up worse.

That sounds pretty conclusive. Personally I would not risk a corneal melt for anything.
