I was diagnosed with Basement Membrane Dystrophy and underwent PTK for it two months ago.
The surgey improved my vision, but a week ago I began to have recurring corneal erosions (RCES) during my sleep each night. I had suffered from RCES last year for about two months before it healed. I was free from them for 10 months until now.
I am wondering if anyone out there has also had RCES after PTK for EBMD. From everything I've read, PTK (and debridement) seems to be a very effective treatment for RCES. I'm curious as to why the RCES would return after PTK when that is supposedly an excellent treatment to eliminate them.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
