  • Some advice

. A few months ago I met an old friend who suffers from severe dry eyes, due to an auto-immune disease. I was telling her my long suffering, a few years ago and told her about Pro symbioflor, symbioflor 1 and 2. And that it's good to detoxify the body. She began with this and her TSH level (She's got hashimoto) Went back to a almost normal level, ofcourse after months of therapy with alternative stuff to detoxify (Like homeopathic).
Its kind of sad that people don't believe in alternative stuff, I really do think one should give it a try. Ofcourse firstly finding a good therapist who has long term experience.
My eyes were unbearably dry, without any reason (Could be due to antibiotics I took over the years) Only after months of homeopathic, symbioflor and a special diet was I able to get my eyes almost back to normal. 2004/2005 I use to take drops every hour. After almost three years, i only use drops at night!!!

    Thanks

    Hasimoto

Please tell your friend to be cautious and to continue to monitor her TSH, Ft4 and Ft3. I am not a doctor but I too have Hasimoto and like most autoimmune disease it can flare and subside. The antibodies can attack the thyroid and the stop for a while, then they can come back with vengence. Hormone levels can go up and down.

      Homeopathy

      Sahara,

Can you please confirm that the homeopathic treatment is Symbioflor. I cannot find it on my homeopath web site. It was suggested to me to try Symphytum Officinale. Could they be one in the same?

        Hi

Eastbounder: Ofcourse she makes her regular check ups! I definitely wont say that it's wiser to cut off mainstream med.

mylittlem: Symbioflor is not homeopthic. It's a medication that has to be taken for sometime depending on how severe the problems are. IF someone suffers from allergies or has taken antibiotics or other agressive meds then it's good to take it. Symbioflor contains healthy bacterias that are in our normal intestinal system. But on some people this is strongly irritated, due to unhealthy lifestyle, antibiotics or other meds. etc. So this can cause the dry eye as well. A typical bacteria we humans have are "esheria coli" which are essential for the mucous membrane.
        Hope this is a help?

            Hi Shahara

I too think that my dry eyes may be caused my Antibiotics over the years. I have taken Antibiotics for Acne every summer for approx 3 months at a time or longer. I just saw a Naturopathic Doctor and he thinks all of my problems are being caused from a Leaky Gut. My symptoms are low immune system, dry mouth, dry nose, eczema, joint discomfort, fatigue and of course DRY EYES. I am a young male in my late 20's. I eat a lot of packaged foods which I know arent good for you. I am not overweight and exercise frequently. My Naturopathic doctor told me I have to change my Diet and everything should get back to normal. Just wondering successful things you have tried and what kind of Diet are you following?? Any help would be much appreciated.

I too am working with a naturopath and changing my diet in effort to help my dry eyes.

First off, I'm taking high quality oils several times a day (omegas) and will continue to do so, and I'm also going to adding Hylauronic Acid (sorry for the misspelling) into my diet as well. I'm drinking a TON of water.

As for my diet, I have a delayed food sensitivity test (blood test) done and it turns out I am allergic to all sorts of things, including dairy, wheat/gluten, brocolli, asparagus, bananas, etc etc. Eating these foods has been contributing to a leaky gut, and causing my immune system to be compromised. I have had a TON of blood tests run for autoimmune, and while my ANA is weakly positive (Titer of 80), all the other tests are negative and my rheumatologist thinks I have primary rayneuds which has caused this test. That being said, most autoimmune diseases can stem from a leaky gut, according to my naturopath. So, I'm in the process of eliminating all these foods and taking some immune-stabilizing supplements to see if it works.

Just posting this in case it helps anybody.

                Hi,

I read your post with interest. What is a blood food sensitivity test? Is it something that the naturopath administered or PCP? I had a skin allergy test delivered by an allergist and everything was negative.

Also are you on probiotics? I was on them for awhile but I stopped after 3 months. I am thinking of trying again.

Please keep us updated on your progress!
