update from me! still using these and happy to recommend them. i dont use them in the day anymore as i don't feel i need them (they make my eyes sticky) but i used them now before bed half an hour before i add oil and after my hot compress. if i forget my honey drops i notice the next day my eyes are more puffy and more likely to stick together.
i brought them to my NHS ophthalmologist a month ago as i was interested on his thoughts. he was very animated as he said they use honey for some wounds in the hospital but then he told me (after looking on this computer) they are still doing trails to see if this type actually works for dry eye, but he thinks in theory i could be a good treatment. the main reason i wanted to talk to him about it though was because i have plugs and i wanted to be dure these wouldn't some how block them! he said it should be the other way around. (not sure what he means by this but since i had a max for 7 mins to see him, i didnt get time to ask) hope this helps!

How do you get them in the U.S.? I failed to find them on Ebay (as of my prior posting above).

All the above descriptions remind me of how Dr.Holly's drops used to be. Naturally, they discontinued them, because anything that's really good gets discontinued (or muzzled) in the USA. (The latter is an acronym for "unhealthcare sickcare america"). All that's left here are the Unwellness Centers.

THESE DROPS WORK! I have had dry eyes for about 7 years since hysterectomy and have lurked on this forum and literally tried ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. I noticed quite a while ago that the manuka honey Optimel that is basically a tube that squeezes manuka honey into your lids are pretty much the only thing that helps. It kind of flushes the eye and relieves it. Not a cure, but if you keep doing it, you get back to some kind of baseline when eyes are going crazy. As a matter of fact, you can just buy manuka honey in a high potency from whole foods and apply it. But these little tubes are so easy to carry around.

BUT... here’s the deal. When I went to reorder them I saw they also have drops, so I got the combo package (on eBay). At first I found the drops too intense. But trust me, this is a good intensity, unlike most of the unnatural crap you get prescribed for eyes. You will quickly get used to it — it’s kind of like a mini-healing crisis, and now they don’t sting at all. Manuka Honey is God’s good gift — honey itself is still good when found in Pharaoahs’ tombs — it’s a miracle healer, kills everything bad, brings back some kind of chi. So I have just had these stingy drops sitting there for a while. But in the last week or so I have had them next to my sink so I’ve used them every night, and OMG, there is actually a difference. My eyes, which have been getting progressively smaller, actually look like they are starting to resume their relaxed size. Once I realized this, I started putting them in every time I go to bathroom at night, and they are so much better I just ordered two more bottles.

Even if you don’t want to order these, at least try manuka honey in your eyes. It is like magic.

(I think this is my first ever post here — had nothing to report except complaint before)

quick update from me, im no longer using these drops after getting an eye infection after using them (it was the only drops i was using at the time) . im not sure if it was the drops, but more so the amount of sticky substance they left on my lashes that led to me always rubbing my eyes or needing to wash them. also they have to be used quite quickly as they got out of date pretty fast, i think i may have used them once or twice in a bottle that went out of date? so be careful of that guys! i also really dont like that they have preservatives in them so long term didnt seem good for me. still think they are worth trying though!

            Hello everyone,

This is my first post here and I thought I should share my experience with MGD hoping I could help others in my situation. I've had MGD for 3 years and I've tried heat therapy, IPL, probing and Omega 3 supplements. I would say that probing and a change in my diet have helped me a lot, whereas heat therapy and IPL were a waste of time. In fact my doctor, who is a leading specialist in dry eye in Spain, suggested that heat therapy would only increase inflammation and therefore the symptoms of MGD. Perhaps it might work in mild cases but my eyes were really bad and I didn't see any improvement even though I was using a heat mask every day for 6 months.

I also recently managed to get hold of Optimel drops, they have finally started selling them in the UK. I've only been using them for 3 weeks and I can see an improvement. I used to be unable to spend more than half an hour  on my phone or laptop in the evening as my eyes would be so angry and irritated but here I am am typing comfortably this message. I am also using fewer lubricants! Yes, they do sting quite a lot but you get used to it. I even like the stinging  now as it makes my eyes tear and then they feel more moist and cleaner. If you have any questions just message me, I would be happy if I could help! There is light at the end of the tunnel

              Hi everyone,
i have been using the optimel manuka gel (preservative free and thicker than the drops) since 1 week now and i can tell they really help to manage the burning and the dryiness (i have MGD and eye lid inflammation). I use it along with restasis and hylo gel (the best drops i have ever tried)

Optimel has anti bacteria and anti inflammatory propreties.
longer term use (3months or more )of optimel eye drops cause bacteria resistance? Or any other side effects?
