I just posted in the Intro thread with what I assume are the main causes of the dry spots on my eyes, (environmental, bleph, MGD, long (42 yrs) term contact wear.(gave them up 3 yrs ago) I did not find a dry eye specialist, but read this forum like crazy, Dr Latkany and Dr Holly, and very importantly was given the encourgement to presevere, simply told that it had taken a long time to get this bad, and would take a long time to help it.
I rejected going on Restatis, as I was scared of the BAK preservative in the Lotemax the Dr wanted to give me prior to Restatis.
I had active belpharitis infection , and was given Tobrex ointment, but eyes were still dry afterwards. I did the Home Eye Spa routine out of Dr Latkany's book morning and night without fail (plus lightly scrubbed lids w/ foam cleaner) used Dwelle drops exclusively since 1/1/08; kept the house humidity over 40% all the time (wore no eye make up), and when the optometrist checked in 8/08 found that the dry spots were gone from my eye surface and when he pressed on the lid, that a healthy liquid was expressed from the meibomian gla nds. ( I am caretaking a relative at home and so am not contending with an office environment)
If anyone is interested I can give the name of products I used to do this, now that my dry spots are gone I have found some eye make up that is comfortable to wear. !!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU, Rebecca, members of this forum , Dr Latkany and Dr Holly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
p.s. Thanks to Rebecca for efforts to continue Dwelle availibility, It makes world of difference to my eyes.
