  • are specialist treatments available in the UK?

    hi all

i always read on here about IPL which is the laser treatment and the one where you get something inserted into the glands to release oil but not sure what thats called but are these only availble in America or is it availble in the UK as curious to see what other treatments i can try.

    thanks

    Hi Kate

I'm sorry to hear that things are still no better. (I think you last went to see Michel Guillon in London)

You will know that IPL treatment for skin conditions is widely available in UK but as yet, I doubt that ophthalmologists know much about it for the treatment of dry eye.

Regarding the probing, you can contact Dr. ******s' office to find out if there are any users of his device in the UK. See dr******.com.

Regarding the IPL, & derm vs. ophth treatment... I have a friend whose husband is a chiropractor. She had a bad eye episode awhile back. Turned out to be blepharitis. She told me she got several laser treatments at her husband's office that pretty much took care of it. I think something similar's been reported on the board. I suspect a fair amount of this is going on on a low-key basis out there. I don't even know enough about it to comment on the implications of having it done without an ophthalmologist's supervision but just thought I'd mention it anyway.

          Hi again Kate

I know that Dr Toyos presented his findings on IPL at a symposium in Rome earlier this year - so there should be a few European doctors around that are at least acquainted with the idea.
