  • IPL on the East Coast?

Hi folks. Does anyone have a list of doctors doing IPL specifically for MGD? The ones I know of already are Dr. Toyos in Memphis and Dr. Coad in NYC. So this post is looking for others. Thank you. Rob

I was wondering that as well. Does anyone have experience with Dr. Coad? I wonder if he does a really good expression like Dr. Toyos.

fyi - I'm moving this to the "Find a doctor who will..." forum fbut with a permanent redirect from the MGD archive so others can find it easily.

        Noticed in a newsblurb

Dr. Stephen E. Smith of Eye Associates in Fort Myers is providing a new treatment for patients suffering from Dry Eye Syndrome.

The office offers Intense Pulsed Light Technique, which opens the meibomian glands and clears inflammatory blood vessels, decreasing patients' painful symptoms.

        For more information, call 936-7685.

Dr. Massaro at Scheie Eye in Philadelphia. She has a fantastic dry eye clinic.

went to Dr Coad today for my first ipl treatment. had a favorable impression of him....and I have been to a LOT of doctors (at least 10)

$200 / treatment if done by his aesthetician
or $250 if done by him. takes 10 minutes.

IPL on the east coast - Toyos approved

These are the 2 Toyos-trained and recommended IPL docs in the northeast (that I know of):

                  Dr. Sanjay Kamat http://www.buckseyespecialists.com/drsanjaykamat.html

                  Dr. Adam H. Bloom, MD

                  Precision Eye Care
                  1700 East Jericho Turnpike
                  Huntington, NY 11743
                  (631) 462-2020

I called Dr. Toyos' office and asked for a referral to someone in my area. These are the 2 I was given. There are others that are doing IPL, but these 2 have been trained by Dr. Toyos and they have the same IPL machine that Dr. Toyos uses. Dr. Toyos' secretary said she recommended you come for the first few treatments in Memphis and then finish at the other sites if possible. Also, you can email Dr. Toyos and get some advice from him if you aren't sure about how the treatments are going.

Personally, based on Dr. Toyos extensive experience (I think he has done 700 patients?) and the fact that he spent 2 hours with someone else on this site, I think it would be worth it to choose this route if you can come up with the money. He claims 90% experience some relief of symptoms. I haven't received any treatments yet as I am getting Lipiflow and trying some other things first.
