Great! If we can get a few more people (who live close enough) this will be good.
If not, we can always do it via phone.

      Where do you live?

I am in New Market which is Burnsville/Lakeville area.

RE: dry eye specialist in Minnesota

My ophthalmologist in Canada told me that there is a woman dry eye specialist in Minnesota. He mentioned her name... I should have written it down.

Does anyone know who I'm talking about? I seem to remember her initials were MM.

Any help to jog my terrible memory would be appreciated!

          Thanks!
          Sheila

Did you ever get a support group together?

I just happened to see this post today. I live in Lakeville and would be interested in a support group. My dry eyes are from LASIK. I had a history of blepharitis before LASIK but was never told by my surgeon or had any idea it was a risk factor for LASIK. And before LASIK, I never had any issues with my blepharitis causing dry eye, not even after wearing contacts all day, so I do not know why it is so bad now. If anyone knows of a dry eye specialist in MN, I would love to know.

Sorry for not seeing this thread sooner.

                I also live in MN.

Has anyone formed an online group or mailing list??

I've had cronic eye issues for over 15 years - allergy and dry eyes.

                Let me know!

                Thanks!

Is there a MN support group? My history = major eye problems since mid-80s, after 15+ years of misdiagnoses and silliness eventually diagnosed with blepharitis and MGD, after a few more years of eye issues my allergies were identified as a "driver," discovered immunotherapy and had a few pretty good years, which collapsed along with my immune system in early-2013 for a variety of reasons, so just re-initiated allergy shots a month ago hoping for a few more good years. Plus, I have to say, the doctors are making me crazy. Would love to visit, learn from folks in Minnesota dealing with dry eye. I'm in the Brainerd Lakes Area.

Hi, You can kill Blepharitis with WET ONES, antibacterial hand wipes. A friend used an Avon Facial Scrub with Benzethonium Chloride in it. Her Blepharitis moved up onto her eyelids. She killed it. I could not find the product for sale so looked on line as to what other products had Benzethonium Chloride in them. I had WET ONES in my purse.
I tore each wipe into 8 sections and did each eyelash area 2 times each 4 times a day for a week and a half. After that, my eyes felt so much better that I went down to 3 times a day for a month. After that, I went down to 2 times a day for several months. Once or twice after that it itched and jumped on it with the wipes for a day or two and then it was no more.
Blepharitis is a bacterial infection that goes deep into the eyelashes and takes quite a while to kill it. That is my take on it as these would not have worked (plus looked the info up too).
I did not rinse my eyes either. I do use eye drops for lubrication for dry eyes. The Dr. said to take Flax and Fish Oil capsules too. He also said to use a warm rag on the eyes in the mornings to get things going.
Please be sure to use separate wash rags for each eye. You do not want to re-infect the eyes. I used white ones so as to put in the bleach load.
I was able to wear mascara and eye shadow (with the help from my daughters).
You need to buy new mascara and makeup.Buy throw away wands (from internet). Also you can buy cosmetic applicators from the drugstore (look like cue-tips but pointed on one end and flat on other). Never put a used anything into the makeup. Use one for each eye. I used Neutrogena makeup remover as it was mild. Any will do.
This is a pain but it works and please remember that 2 people using 2 different products both with Benzethonium Chloride no longer have Blepharitis.
Several have tried it and are saying how well it works.
                          Wish you well soon.
