Looking for the closest place to Madison WI to get serum or androgen drops made. I've had no luck finding anything in Madison. Serum drops are made at a local hospital, but only for cancer patients. I've checked a compounding pharmacy, and they do not make either serum or androgen drops. I'm hoping my doc will agree to have me try one of them, but want to have info when I go to my appt. Unfortunately I'm afraid she won't know where to get them and it will delay things, and I'm ready to try something different now!!

Are you looking for a lab to compound autogolous blood serum? I live in Phila., my eye doctor has the hospital lab draw vials of blood and then Fed Ex to a lab in Ca. The lab Fed Ex's the serum to my home. It's pretty quick turnaround.Originally posted by smthcorona View PostLooking for the closest place to Madison WI to get serum or androgen drops made. Lab is Leiter's Pharmacy, telephone 408-292-6772, or 800-292-6773.
I have just started these eye drops, you get a three month supply, freeze the vials, use one vial a week and keep it refrigerated. I don't see an improvement, but the doctor says it takes three months. Good luck to you.

Serum/androgen eyedrops near Madison WI
Not sure about Madison, but I've had the drops prepared by a doctor in the Milwaukee area. He has the blood drawn by a lab next to his office and then he does his magic. His name is Dr. Marc Hirsch and he's with Eye Physicians Associates. It's the Layton Avenue location is where he prepares the serum eyedrops. I no longer use them as they didn't seem to help much - nothing seems to. Good Luck.

Madison WI doctor
I go to UW Health. They only have 2 cornea specialists! I had been going to Dr Barney, but just switched to Dr Nehls. I had seen her a couple times when I had to have a plug replaced and thought she was a much better fit for me. She's very easy to talk to and seems willing to try new things. She prescribed Fresh Kote for me last week, at my request as she had never heard of Dr Holly or his drops. Unfortunately docs don't seem to read up on things like we do! I've been using Azasite which I think has helped a little, but the Fresh Kote seems to be helping more. Hopefully it will continue! I've also seen Dr Knoch (sp?) at UW Health East. He's not a cornea specialist, but has a good reputation and has a great personality. Good luck!Originally posted by dryeyetoo View PostHi smithcorona -- hey, I'm in the Madison area and am looking for a good dry eye doc -- any recommendations?

Thanks for the info. My new eye doc's opinion about serum drops was that they aren't that great, so I assume her patients haven't had good luck with them. Of course that doesn't mean I wouldn't. They are only made in Madison for cancer patients that have gotten dry eye from treatments. They must work for some of them or I assume they wouldn't keep doing it . . . She seemed more willing to look into DHEA drops, but I'll have to wait as I'm trying Fresh Kote now. Seems to be helping a little, and it's only been 6 days! I'm hoping the longer I'm on it, the better it will work. Have you tried Fresh Kote?Originally posted by jpete View PostNot sure about Madison, but I've had the drops prepared by a doctor in the Milwaukee area. I have not tried Fresk Kote (yet). I asked my dr. about it awhile back, but he didn't seem to think it would help. Since nothing else so far seems to help, I'm thinking "why not give it a try." If I insist, I'm pretty sure he would prescribe for me. What the heck, gotta' try anything and everything that's out there!Originally posted by smthcorona View PostHave you tried Fresh Kote?

That's what I thought, can't hurt to try it! It still seems to be helping after 2 weeks. I'm by no means cured, still have a long way to go to be at an "acceptable" level, but it's definitely taken the edge off. I wish I would have tried it a long time ago. Could have avoided a lot of suffering.Originally posted by jpete View PostI have not tried Fresk Kote (yet). I asked my dr. about it awhile back, but he didn't seem to think it would help.
