  • Any good doctors in Michigan?

Looking for good doctors in Michigan. Dr latkany diagnosised me with sensitive eyes. Looking for a doctor who's closer to me.

    Hey azngi16,
I live in MI too and have always struggled finding a "good" doctor. I currently see one in Warren that has been pretty helpful, but still, only provided a series of failed treatments and nothing that has really seemed to work yet. I was actually thinking about going to see Dr. Latkany in a month or two when I head out to NY with a friend, how was your experience with him?

      Dearborn and Southfield, SE Mich.

Blakes, you didn't say exactly where in Michigan you live, but it sounds like SE Mich where I am. I have an appointment Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the Dearborn Akler Eye Center.com, where you can even see her picture. She is a very cheerful and encouraging person, although I should have known to research opthalmalogy online and remind absolutely any doctor that I'm a thyroid patient and shouldn't have Kenalog injected into my eyes! Seem to still have some from 5 or 6 years ago, and Dry Eye and Bleph too, afraid I may not pass next driving exam. Kenalog works so well for some patients, though not actually licensed for eyes, I read, but opthalmologists have been using it anyway for 30 yrs. It's definitely not for me. Her newsletter says she's been a Top Doc. This is only about 4 miles from where I live and I've found a college girl to drive me because I'll be dilated, who's off for the summer. I'm afraid repeated dilations at my age may be making my vision worse. I'm diabetic, have had cataract surgery, one eye a failure, and lots of retinopathy laser, allergies, etc.

Retina Consultants in the Comerica Bldg at Telegraph and 12 Miles is also a good place to go. It's just too far for me to drive any more and the woman doctor I was seeing has a little boy now, only comes in on Mondays. There's one doctor whose name starts with M but I can't remember the rest of it, who's very nice, was subbing for her one day.

They used to have a van service but had to discontinue it, guess drivers were personally using them. One parked right next to me at Wallmart one day. Keep us posted. I'd enjoy knowing someone from these forums for even more moral support. Good luck wherever you are.
