  • Doheny USC or Jules Stein UCLA?

I was recently referred to both eye institutes, and I was wondering if anyone has a preference? I am currently scheduled to see Dr. Wang at Jules Stein. I don't know anything about him/her and am worried, as I am traveling from Reno to see them. I looked up Doheny and they look pretty legit but I still don't know. Anyone have any good/bad experiences with doctors?

PS if anyone here is from Reno or the area, I can definitely give you my experiences with doctors here! Unfortunately it's mostly been not great

    Hi,
If you are going for a post LASIK dry eye problem, neither one can really help. I have been to both, I even had a sceral lens fitting at Doheney. While the people are very nice, they are still LASIK eye Drs. and never want to admit their craft is ruining peoples lifes, they jsut all say and do the same thing. If it is dry eye, the best place so far after 2-1/2 years is the Southern California College of Optometry n Fullerton, Ca. They have a low vision center as well as special lens fitting and dry eye departments. I have two residents and a department head taking a special interest in helping me. I originally went there for another scleral lens fitting (At a fraction of the cost of Doheney I might add) but I am now going through a number of dry eye treatments and autoglous serum. No other doctors would even listen to me about any of this. So good luck and God Bless!

Thanks, brad! That's really frustrating to hear about the doctors. Is it difficult getting into the center at fullerton?

I went to both Doheny & Jules Stein, though not recently, & my dry eye condition has deteriorated since then (total of 7 years). At those visits, both treated my condition as not that concerning, which is frustrating since my dry eyes severly impact my quality of life. They burn all the time. My TBUT is nil. Sjogrens testing was negative. Both JS & Doheny are well regarded so I've considered going back at this "getting worse" point in my life, but really wouldn't know which one. I felt so "uninteresting" as a patient before. I live in the L.A. area, yet have not yet found the right source for help, & so I continue to suffer greatly. The college in Fullerton...that's a quirky one, but who knows. No one else has helped. Thanks for sharing.
