  • Meibomian gland dysfunction/dry eye specialist in the Los Angeles area

Hi everyone! I am excited to be a part of this forum I have recently moved to the USA from Australia. I was diagnosed with meibomian gland dysfunction about a year ago, and have tried a few treatments after seeing an ophthalmologist in Australia before moving here (hot compresses, lid cleaning, a course of doxycycline, fish oil/flax seed supplements). Although my symptoms have improved greatly, I still have a great amount of discomfort and have been unable to wear my contact lenses for about a year now (prior to that I wore them on a daily basis).

I would like to see an ophthalmologist in the Los Angeles area, who specialises in meibomian gland dysfunction/dry eye. I am located near Chino Hills, but am willing to travel locally if it means seeing a good doctor. Since I am new to the country and do not have a primary physician to refer me, I was hoping to ask for some advice from those of you who live in Southern California and have had a good experience with an eye specialist in the area. Thank you in advance

For MGD you may benifit from IPL, youve tried all the standard treatments so IPL would be a next step. Dr Toyos in beverly hills does the treatment, if you look into it you will see many people in here have had success. It is not cheap though..

Welcome to the US, im moving there from england in two weeks.
I healed my dry eye with nutrition and detoxification. I'm now a Nutritional Therapist at: www.nourishbalanceheal.com Join my dry eye facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/420821978111328/

      Hi Sazy

I'm sure if it was the case you would have mentioned it but have you noticed any difference in your eyes when you are in the US or are they just the same as when you are in the UK?

I remember your 'IPL reports' from the US; I used to look forward to reading them and found them very informative.

        Hi Aussie2006,

Welcome to Los Angeles. I just wanted to let you know that I work at Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. The Medical Director of the Laser Refractive Center, Dr Rex Hamilton, specializes in dry eye treatment. He recently acquired the TearScience dry eye analysis and treatment system. He may be able to help you. Good luck.
