Did they tell you he was out until April or just that he can't see you? It's very possible that he's simply booked that far out.

I just saw him on Feb. 3rd & only called the week before to get an app't. He does have another office in Purchase in NY state. I didn't have any problem getting in to see him. His website is www.dryeyedoctor.com.
