  • AntiAnxiety Meds that Won't dry you out

Can anyone recommend an anti-anxiety or anti-depressant that hasn't dryed their eyes out? I am dealing with a lot of anxiety over Lasik and feel it is having an effect on my recovery. Would love anyone thoughts or experiences.

Valium did not dry my eyes out. I did not take more than 5mg per day but it helped just to take the edge of for a few hours. The more you take the more you need so you have to be careful and not overuse it. I was also told it can cause you to feel depressed if you take it too long. I found just taking one pill once or twice a week helped a lot. Good luck...the anxiety does get better even though it's hard to believe it when you are at your worst

I took Zoloft for a year with no increased dryness in my eyes at all. (The only reason I stopped was that it gave my horrible insomnia.) Hth!

I took clonazepam for my anxiety and it didn't dry the eyes (I checked with the pharmacy) and it helped me sleep too.
I only took it when needed but it helped me to get through the worst of it I felt.

Thank you for the feedback. I actually called my pharmacy to look up what has little dry eye affects and it seems that Zanax side effects of dry eyes is less than 1%.
