Dry eye doctor in Chicago area?

I will be moving to the Chicago area soon and wanted to see if anyone had any good experiences with any doctors in the Chicago area. My current opthamologist recommended Dr. Parag Majmudar in Hoffman Estates, IL. Does anyone have any experiences with him or any other doctor in the Chicago area?

I appreciate any suggestions or feedback.

I don't know Dr. Majmudar... I used to sometimes suggest Dr. Marian Macsai, but I heard today from another patient that she is not accepting new patients. I know several people from this part of the country who make the drive to Louisville to see Dr. Gary Foulks. Of course for anyone visiting from out of state it's even more important to do plenty of homework - records transfer, send a summary, make sure receptionist knows you're travelling in so they can try to schedule some extra chair time etc.

I have been to Dr. Parag Majmudar. He is the best I have found in the Chicago area.

Hi Julie,
I live in Chicago Loop and went to 3 "Downtown Chicago" eye doctors for my dry eye problem with very poor results. I finally used the Dr. recommended by this website for Illinois, Dr. Mack. My dry eye condition has practically been resolved. Dr. Mack had recently attended a Dry Eye Seminar, and he seems to adhere to the philosophy and treatment regime as this website. His associate Dr. C, also is very knowledgeable regarding dry eye syndrome. The only flaw to his practice is the receptionist, Carole, who is very rude. However, if you can look past Carole, the rest of the staff is very nice, and most importantly, the results are great. I am not sure if you get the same results as I did, but I am so happy that I found this web site, and that I finally found someone who understands this medical condition. Good luck to you. Lee

Dr. Charles Bouchard

Although I do visit other specialists in different parts of the country, Dr. Bouchard is very kind, helpful, and close to home. I would absolutely recommend him.

Dry Eye Doc in Suburban Chicago

Dr. John Choi is a Harvard-trained opthamalogist at The Eye and Facial Clinic, 28375 Davis Parkway, Suite 905, Warrenville, IL 60555. Phone: 630-836-1616, website: www.eyeandfacialclinic.com. Location is in the western suburbs of Chicago. I have been going to him for a couple of years and he is very good, especially with the punctal plugs (which help a lot).

I'm going to see Dr. Majmudar on Aug 27th. I'll report back on the experience for you. I have high hopes as he seems to have a good reputation.

For anyone that reads this thread Dr. John Choi does not install silicon punctal plugs only synthetic dissolvable plugs.

Dry eye docs in the Chicago area

I've waited some time before posting. On the advice listed here, I first visited Dr. Bouchard and in March made an appointment with Dr. Mack. When I asked Dr. Bouchard for a dry eye diagnosis, he simply replied "all of them" as in blepharitis, ocular rosacea, MGD, etc. His suggestion for treatment: contact lenses- I decided to see Dr. Mack. Leaving that first visit, I thought I might cry as I felt I had finally found someone who A: took my condition seriously and B: could help me find relief. After several months of treatment, I can say that my results have been less than I'd hoped for. However, he is still the best doc I've found in the area. I will update if I find someone else.
Dr. Mack treated me with doxy, restasis, otc allergy drops and recommended warm compresses and panoptics. He also suggested surgery for conjunctivoschalasis. That is not something I want to pursue right now. My eyes are improved... not great. At least half of that improvement is from information I got on this website which helped me to ask the right questions and sift through the information I was given. I think Dr. Mack is a good doctor, but he also at times seems rushed and forgetful. I would caution anyone to avoid any surgeries or procedures that you haven't researched thoroughly. (Just my 2 ¢ ). I first saw Dr Wohl at the Wohl Eye Center. I would recommend her as she seems to know her stuff. I was first put in punctal plugs by her as well.
