Need healing, I am speechless at your post. Please wait for the eye surgery. You are just having too much medical stuff and stress going on right now, along with the stress of having no money when you're done etc.

Why not take care of your teeth first. Then you can move on to your eyes with hopefully a little less to worry about.

The DR knows about my dry eye and it was no problem. I passed the tear test(I take restasis) and there is nothing to doubt anymore. I am candidate and he is very good DR. The only thing holding me back is the money part, I need the money from my parents. So yea, I will continue to have dry eye and post

How old are you? You said you are sick right now. That could be your intuition trying to tell you something, like to slow down. If I knew you personally, I would find some ether, and a way to put you "out" and then deliver to your parents and have them keep you locked inside until you get all the information straight.

You say the "dr knows about my dry eye and it was no problem." Yes, it IS a problem. Why do you think this board exists? You are a GOOD candidate like I suspect anybody with $8,000 cash is. Don't ever be so arrogant to think nothing can go wrong. Lots can go wrong.

I had Lasik after a whole lifetime of wearing COKE BOTTLE GLASSES. It's been 10 years now and my best correction WITH GLASSES is 20/50 and 20/80. With my coke bottle glasses, I was correctible to either 20/20 or 20/50. If my left eye goes south any more, I will not be able to qualify for a driver's license.

I am sorry if I come across a bit of a sourpuss. You are so "thrilled" right now, you think there is nothing to worry about. Yes, there is. Whether it will hit YOU or not will not be known until some time after your surgery. Remember, it can't be undone. Lucy

Lucy, what i meant by feeling sick.....I have a headache. I was stressed out because I figured they would do a few test. Then, just say "looks like your ____ sorry you are not a candidate" I felt stressed out that is all. My tooth is getting a crown and also I need more filling. This is the right thing for me! Keep in mind I had a plastic surgeon cut off a bump that was on my chin. It's a on going process. Im having the ICL done, then I'm having my DR do a rhinoplasty to fix my nose. In the past few months, Ive been doing EVERYTHING possible to improve my appearance. Because I want to feel more confident and I want to LIVE LIFE. This DR was the 1st one to put the ICL into someone's eye in north america. It's not like Im going to do lasic at one of those places where they do it for cheap. This is $8,000 and I'm already over $2,500 on my dentist and cosmetic surgeon. In the end, if I go over $20,000 it wont matter! I need these things done before I can get a job and start earning money. I might delay the operation until he comes back. Then I will have it done towards the end of march. This isnt a rush choice. Its something that I have wanted for a couple of months. I trust the DR and I want to see. I was honest about my dry eye and it posed no problems. I didnt just tell them what they want to hear. He is professional and I had to go threw many test to establish I am a candidate. He even had the print out of the order of the Visian ICL showing the size and everything. I get headaches from glasses and Its not just a matter of wanting to get rid of them. I wanna see and a small little, tiny 3mm cut that he does to put in the lens is not as much of a risk as the flap made with lasic.

Ok, one doctor told you that you are a condadidate for ICL. So, for now, you may have an option on the table. Did you bother to get a second opinion given your trouble with dry eye? Have you fully researched the complications that are involved with ICLs?????

Do me a favor - and I'm not trying to be a jerk in saying this, but Google "ICL Complications" and respond back with a list of serious complications that can occur. Pay particular attention to ENDOTHELIAL CELL LOSS and make sure you have a solid understanding of this. Make sure you understand ALL of the risks and know what you are getting into.

Errr...ummmm... if you passed the tear test then you should be able to wear contact lenses. On the other hand, if something about the tear test was done incorrectly, cutting through nerves in the cornea to get an implant in your eye could make your dry eye even worse than it currently is.

Again. SLOW DOWN. Get a second and maybe even a third opinion before you jump into this. You only get one pair of eyes.

I absolutely understand what it is like to be stuck in thick glasses. I was -14 in each eye before I had my refractive surgery. Now, being on the other side of the fence with serious vision and dryness problems I can tell you I would give anything to have those coke bottles back.

Need, I do have a 3 mm cut in my eye from a cataract surgery which is basically what you're having (without the cataract). I had no additional problems from that except it did exacerbate my dryness issue. The IOL surgery was 5 years after Lasik and 5 years ago. My Lasik was 10 years ago and I still wish I had my coke bottles. I wish you well. My main message to you was to slow down.

I recently had cancer and one day at the cancer center, I noticed a dr with coke bottle glasses and I asked him what his correction was. It was -14 in one eye and -17 in the other. I asked him about refractive surgery and he just shook his head "no, not for me." This man was in his 50's and obviously had a successful career as an oncologist. Lucy

No offense, but marketing videos for refractive surgeries make me gag, so I'll have to pass.

By wishing you well I didn't mean to convey that I think the surgery is a good idea. It's just that I don't think I or anyone here can influence you about this (abundantly proven in past threads) so I'm just sincerely hoping for the best.

P.S. I got two new pairs of glasses today regular and sunglasses, but I can't see a bit better. Am taking a little fashion glasses thing.
