Hi All,
I'm coming here with a laundry list of eye distresses
1. Pellucid Marginal Degeneration: a form of keratoconus where the cornea's irregularity is mostly at the outer rim rather than dead center. At this point I feel like an almost-blind person as I am not able to wear my piggy back lens system anymore due to..........
2. Recurrent corneal erosions: driving me to the outer limits of pain tolerance. I awaken with these in the middle of the night and am basically incapacitated for the next 36-48 hours. The pain is as close to unbearable as I can imagine and pain relievers do zilch. It's gotten to the point where I'm afraid to go to sleep at night.
3. Have been to 2 corneal specialists in the last few weeks. One said I had MGD, which is causing DE. He put me on Restasis, warm packs, etc. The other doc said I had basement membrane disease resulting in the RCEs and DE. I started wearing Tranquileyes, which I love, and doing lots of artificial tears during the day.
How I long for an instant fix!!
I've spent hours reading on this site and its been very helpful. I talked to Rebecca on the phone yesterday and told her I thought I was addicted to this place! I've had many years of experience in dealing with online forums and not only is this place chock full of useful information, but the compassion and empathy are astounding. Thank you all for being here.
