So happy to welcome you but so sorry to hear about your eyes and lupus. Hope you find some hope, comfort and progress.

World class inflammation specialists are heading your way so make sure your ophthalmologist attends, or gets information to help you, or maybe find a way to access help yourself. Would you feel able to approach a regional expert for advice on getting better treatment, or at least alleviation of symptoms and stopping the worsening?

In case this is useful: there is an ORBIS Cyber Sight telemedicine programme (see link about Shanxi Eye Hospital) to access international specialists who volunteer through ORBIS http://www.orbis.org/Default.aspx?cid=4867&lang=1 http://www.eurotimes.org/09March/NewsmakerInterview.pdf. I wonder if you could access the right person to advise you.

    Best wishes for some progress.

I am a student that is currently studying in Germany and got my dry eyes, which is due to MGD here.

Well, you mentioned that you have dry eyes due to immune system problems.

Well I visited a chinese doctor in Germany before i have dry eye. And i just asked him about my health status. He took my hand and said that i have immune system problem. I didn't pay much attention and after a few weeks i was diagnosed with dry eye.

And what immune system you have exactly?

                    hi there!

                    Hi,

I've been on DES for over 3 years now and I am from Taiwan. I've been suffering from dry eyes due to autoimmune disease called Sjogren's. Typically Sjogren's causes both dry eyes and dry mouth and eventually dries up all the mucus secretion glands within the body too.

Do you know if that is what you have? I actually visited the Shanghai Chinese Medicine Hospital 'Long Hwa" and gotten some chinese meds before but that did not help much. But since then, I've managed to get my symptoms under control via other means that work for me. Therefore, if you have confirmation that your problem is somewhat related to auto-immune, then maybe I can suggest something.

BTW, have you ever tried Restasis? I did it for 7 months but it didn't work at the time because I didn't know that my dry eyes was auto-immune related.

Never give up. I've seen many people gotten over dry eyes eventually or finally figureing out a regimen that works specifically for him/her.

                    Best, Chris
