new to Dry Eye Zone

Hello to all! After reading many posts about people dealing with dry eye for years, I am NOT sure how you cope! I have been viewing this website for weeks and I finally got the nerve up to post. I have tried some of the suggestions listed here and the ideas have worked much better than many that my doctor wanted me to do! I developed dry eye after having cataract surgery! I feel as if my eye specialist does NOT want to be bothered in trying to get to the true root of the dry eye problems. I 59 years old. The first right eye was done on October 26th and the second one was performed on November the 9th. My right eye is far worse than the right one, This website has been so very helpful! I hontestly thought I was losing my mind! I have NEVER had anything hurt like this, dry eye pain rates right up there with child birth, in my opinion! Anyway, the past five weeks plus have been H E ! ! - so say the least!

It looks like you do not have any posts to your thread, at least here. You may have something elsewhere on the forum. If not, perhaps if you post in the Open Forum, you'll get some feedback.

It just so happens that I'm probably one of the few on here who has had (1) cataract surgery. I had Lasik 11 years ago and that started my dry eye and vision problems. Shortly after, I was told I had cataracts. I waited 5 years before having 1 cataract out as I was not able to see well and we thought that might help. Because of the Lasik, the cataract surgery turned out badly (visionwise). This is not something you should worry about.

I still have the other cataract but am so afraid of how it will turn out, am just wandering around with terrible vision. I think the cataract surgery on the one eye did make it a little worse, but my eyes burned so badly before the surgery, it couldn't get much worse. I had to retire after that surgery.

First of all, your eye dr who did the surgery should be helping you out with this. Be demanding! Make an appointmet and tell him you need help. Read up on more of the solutions on the board here. Did he tell you to use drops? Perhaps they are irritating your eyes? I do not have the answer for you, but this dr should. If this doesn't work, I'd seek a second opinion from an optometrist in your area who specializes in dry eyes.

Lucy - Thank you so much for responding to my post! This website has given me hope and comfort! I did get to see another specialist and he was so kind!
I have gotten some relief and help from this man!

The different ideas and suggestions on this website are tried and true!
