  • New to Dry Eye Talk, I have severe dry eyes and Boston Lens

hello, I'm glad to find a forum to talk with others. I have GVHD dry eye and honestly, I think my tears are all gone. I have two Boston Prose, but as the day goes on they get foggy and cloudy. I have a cataract starting, but when I take out my lens, the fogginess goes away, so I don't think it's the cataract.
To date, my only solution has been continuing OTC drops, or take them out, clean them, put them back in.
Question: Would wearing tinted glasses provide some relief, I see people with sunglasses. I wear them when outside, but they are too dark inside. any opinions would be appreciated.
Dry eye is depresssing. I had AML and am in remission five years, but this dry eye is far more debilitating than that journey. Thanks and best wishes to all.

    lzer, welcome to the forum.
There are many folks here who where Boston lenses but I am not one of them. I am currently in the never ending fit stage (8 attempts) and I also suffer from fogging that my doc hasn't been able to fix, although mine kicks in anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes of wear time and nothing helps short of removing them. Sorry I couldn't be more help but there are others here far more educated on the topic than I am.

    Welcome.

I am originally from Iowa, but live in Philly now. Tell me, did I understand you correctly? You tried the boston Lenses 8 times? So what do you do if you can't wear the lenses? I have alot of discomfort without them, but you are right, it takes alot of maintenance. lzer

I haven't used the Boston lenses, these were from a doctor in Chicago. I haven't given up on lenses, yet, just maybe my doctor. ;-)

For some people with dry eye and PROSE they do have an ongoing maintenance issue with mucous and/or fogging that only seems to be solvable by removing and re-filling them. I don't know whether moisture chamber glasses might help in some cases but it certainly could be worth a try. Does putting drops in over the lenses make any difference at all? Do you get mucous/protein on the lenses?

p.s. Welcome! I have worn PROSE for nearly 5 years btw.

            Boston Lens

Can someone please tell me who wears the Boston Prose Contact if you have a problem with glare? Thank you.

              Prose

Do you have trouble with glare from indoor lights when you wear your Prose Contacts? I wear Sclerel Lenses (not Prose) and the glare is horrific for me. Considering getting Prose but want to make sure there is no glare with them. Thank you.

What exactly do you mean by glare? Daytime glare issues? Glare at night from headlights etc?

I don't have any of those issues connected with the PROSE. I do however have glare - halos, starbursts etc - without them due to LASIK but the lenses reduce those effects dramatically.

The only reason I know of for lenses - whether PROSE or any other gas perms - to introduce glare that wasn't already there is if they are not well fitted.

                  Prose

The glare is from my windows during the day in my home, lights in public buildings ect. I am not able to drive at night due to oncoming headlights looking like they are double. They are very hard to get in without bubbles. It can take up to an hour to get them in right. I do take out about every three hours to clean the inside because of film. I also clean the outside when they are in my eyes with a q-tip. These are some of the reasons I am considering the Prose. I am not hearing very much negative info. Anything you can share is very much appreciated.
