  • Hi, I'm new

    Hello,

I am a young lasik victim suffering from Xtreme dry eye. I have tried many treatments, but my detailed story is here:

I am glad that someone saw the need to create communication between dry eye sufferers. This site is a great resource for us.

I love pickup trucks, deer hunting, and fried chicken. However, I have significantly reduced spending time with the things I love in an all-out effort to seek successful treatment of my dry eye. I began seeing a specialist almost a year ago and have been fairly unsuccessful thus far.

I am particularly interested in the new "I-Ease" drops. Someone posted a thread about them here:

However, they are relatively unproven; so if anyone has any experience with the drops, please do share.

I have not used these drops but I contacted the company for more info. I got an email. Maybe someone else has posted this already, but here's what they wrote to me:

Thank you for your time and interest. The ingredients for I-Ease are as follows: conditioned media from stem cells (molecules released by stem cells), carboxymethylcellulose, and BAK as a preservative. Our products do not require a prescription and are available on our website bioregenerativesciences.com or through customer service.

I decided not to order them mainly because the shipping to me in Canada was the same price as the drops.

I do not consider that product at all credible at this time. The BAK is not the only issue. They do not have FDA compliant labeling (required for any eye drop sold without prescription). Furthermore I'm familiar with the FDA's monograph of what you can and can't use as an active ingredient in an over the counter eye drop and stem cell anything does not come into that picture. I can't say anything against the drop's safety or effectiveness because I have no idea, but I have requested info from internationally known ophthalmologists none of whom ever heard of this. Caution, caution, caution.

Hmm. Does sound very suspicious. Thanks, both of you.

Also, I am considering heading to Boston for scleral lenses later in the year. I read your thread about your experience. How much have the sclerals helped with the dryness factor?
