I joined today. I found the site while searching for serum eye drops. I have had one dry eye for 13 year S/P Lasik (what a mistake). I read a post earlier today mentioning different eye drops for different uses. I am very interested in filaments or really how to make them go away. All suggestions will be considered - thank you for being out there. I thought I was the only one to ever talk about an ice pick in my eye.

Welcome Jeremie! Hope you can find some good suggestions here. If you can share any more details with us about your diagnosis and treatments to date it would be really helpful so people can make specific suggestions. I know there are others here who struggle with filaments. If you need any help finding your way around here just let us know.Rebecca Petris

Jeremine,
I have a terrible time with filaments. They cause foreign body sensation and can obstruct my vision. When I pull them out it seems like I am taking whatever moisture there is in my eye out with them. I am now on mucomyst, it dissolves the filaments. Sometimes my eyes feel sticky from the dissolving filaments, but the overall filament pain is much less. I also use muro drops on occasion to draw the filaments together so I can pull them out. If you cannot try the mucomyst right away I would try some muro drops, they are OTC, but don’t use them too often as they have preservatives in them.
Good luck.

Hi Tracy,
I was just wondering if scleral lenses would give you some relief from the filaments? If your eyes were constantly in a saline bath, would that not protect your corneas from developing filaments? I really don't know . . . maybe someone here can address this.
Scleral lenses are supposed to be very good for dry eye, so maybe they can help you?

Not yet! It is probably a bit too early after my lasik to be getting them. I will need them to correct my vision too. Everything I've read about them sounds very promising. If your doc is suggesting them I would get checked out at eithe the Boston Foundsation or at Dr. Gemoules, in Texas.
