  • Hi One & All!

Just recently found this brilliant site!

I have recently been suffering from red, inflamed sore eyes and want to find out what is causing this problem and also meet like minded people who can give advice and tips on how best to deal with these symptoms.

At present, I have visible red eye veins on my sclera, on one eye in particular and some eye pain/pressure. I have been to the opticians who said its likely blepharitis, but with other symptoms, this isnt likely the only diagnosis as i have had sinusitis recently and ear pain etc... and will be seeing a specialist eye doc soon hopefully.

Feel free to come and say hi.

Just to add: I was on accutane for 6 months about 6 months ago and also been told i have a low thyroid level (hypo) so wondering if these have anything to do with my symptoms?

    Low thyroid

Hypto thyroidism can cause dry skin, so I wonder if it could also cause dry eyes.

I had my thyroid removed in 2007 so I wonder if dry eyes are a side affect.

I haven't seen a connection in the literature I've seen.

    Take your thyroid suppliments.

      Hi Storm,

Thank you for your reply. As my dry eye problems are fairly new, I am yet to find a cause for the condition and speaking to several people with thyroid issues, its definitely a possibility if all other factors are ruled out. I would like to see a specialist eye doctor other than my optician if things do not improve so that I can get a more thorough diagnosis and hopefully better treatment advice in the near future.
