  • Sad but glad i found this sight

I have been suffering with this severe dry eye for about 3 years and felt like I was the only one.....like most I have read about, I had been to Doctor after Doctor, at least seven and also to Bascom Palmer Eye Institute where I had the most insensitive Dr.

Most just did not know what to do so gave me the push out which I could not understand. I would wish they would listen and not make a judgement in the first two minutes....wouldn't you think after seeing you looking like a monster from the swelling and gunk flowing from your eyes and you begging them to please help they would at least think about it and try?

Finally I was referred to an Occular Immunologist by a Dr. friend of a friend and HE LISTENED! I did have such a bad attitude by then I almost didn't give him a chance.....and I did ask him to please listen to me...and he did.

So we have been on this journey for about a couple years and have now come to the conclusion that most of my problem is auto immune.
He and the cornea specialist with him are there for me at every different symptom....I think I would be blind in at least one eye if not.

It seems like stress is the culprit and with out going into the reasons...it has been very bad and I actually wondered if crying so much could have done this.

I am taking doxy every day, wearing bandage contacs, and methotrexate for the auto immune issues. Its only been a few weeks and I dare hope I am feeling some better..flair ups still happen...I think I will never feel normal again.

I can only drive short distances and that causes alot of problems...quality of life is a problem, but finding this site has encouraged me so much.

Self esteem and emotional problems...so while I hate to hear others do have this problem...I have comfort in your words. No one understands unless they have had to deal with all of the issues from blepharitis to feeling like ice scrapers every time you blink.

wishing you all comfort again soon,

welcome to the forum galesul! Do you have an autoimmune disease? Are you just diagnosed with dry eye or do you have occular rosacea too or something else? I know what you mean. I'm having a rough go lately. It is very frustrating and we all want that magic formula. I believe that our conditions will improve. Some of us may take longer than others though. We just have to find that magic bullet that is good for us. I think everyone responds differently to different therapys.
