Hi! Thursday I was diagnosed with Map Dot Thumbprint Corneal Dystrophy. I have vision loss in my left eye, some photophobia, and trouble driving at night. Needless to say, I am quite frightened by this diagnosis. My dr. put me on Restasis 2x a day and lubricating drops 4x a day. I am also using an ointment at night and started taking the Thera Tears Omega-3 supplements today. Eleven years ago I had LASIK surgery and suffered major complications because of having extreme dry eye problems. The surgery was performed by the same dr. I have now and my vision has been great until now. I have made an appointment with the Director of the Wilmer Eye Center at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore for July 18th, because I am so upset about this diagnosis. I am scared of the erosions that may happen. Is there any hope for me? Is there any possibility I will not develop the erosions if I am diligent with drops, ointments, etc.? Any tidbits of information will be greatly appreciated.
