  • Retina Detachment

Hi - I had a detatched retina almost a year ago. Had a victrectomy and cataract surgery as a result of the retina surgery. Contracted iritis which has been tenacious and notice that my affected eye is dry. I guess dry is the least of my problems - but looking for anyone that has had a similar eye saga.

    CDBAND,
I have had a similar experience to yours starting with retina problems 5 years ago. I am very nearsighted which stretches the retina very thin and caused mine to tear and form holes. I have not had a detatchment (my biggest fear). The lazer surgeries I have had caused me to develop cataracts, had those corrected and IOL's implanted and many complications later I have very dry eyes. I also have to use a pressure drop in my worst eye from complications and steriod use. The pressure drop makes my eye even drier. I still have off and on deep pain in my left eye socket (the eye I use the drop in) and I have often wondered if I have a deeper problem other than dry eye. What are the symptoms of iritis?
Hang in there and try not to think of what CAN happen....that is what I tend to do and it does no good to worry!!! It is an every day battle to stay positive.

well i have sjs from past 22years.
I have thin retina by birth.I recently had cataract surgery as my overall eye condition made a pre mature development of cataract/

I was told to be careful before the cataract surgery as it can lead to RD(retinal detachment. So i had my retina checked by 3 different specialists before i underwent cataract..

So far i havent faced any problem with retina.
But doc advised me not to put stress on body.Keep away from weight lifting and keep foods habits such as wont cause gas in stomach.

I would like to know, what did they do in vitrectomy?Removed the ggel like humor completely?Did u feel any visual imprvements?
Really need to be a ROCK to take the pain!
