Well, I have had dry eye for 3 years. I had been to a dry eye specialist and was given the whole treatment. The hot compresses, Lid Scrubs, and last but not least gland expression. This worked for a while until I was given a heavy dose of antibiotics, it was after a dose of antibiotics, my meibomian glands didn't reveal any oil anymore after lid expression. It was horrible, I tried the lid scrubs, but they felt like sand paper, and made my eyes worse than before. So after all that and finding no relief or help, I kept to a routine that worked for the last 2 years, however something has gotten them inflamed now. However here is my current routine.

before I go to bed I put in systane nighttime ointment, it helps a lot with the dryness to sleep, however the mineral oil in it is irritating to my skin. Can't really do anything about that cuz they don't make any night time ointment without mineral oil, its horrible.

in the mornings I wake up I wet some cotton rounds to wipe off the mineral oil and use Thera Tears steri-lid eyelid foam to sterilize the lids.

Then once dry I put OTC systaine, PF artificial tears in my eyes 1 drop every 15 mins or so all day long. Pretty expensive, spend like 100 bucks a month on the stuff.

then when night comes before bed, i continue that same routine. Wear a hat and wrap around safety glasses during the day to avoid wind ect that will aggravate the problem. This routine has been working for me to cope, for the last 2 years.

Its just now, within the last few days, my eyes started watering like crazy, and my eyes are bloodshot, the conjunctiva are inflamed, I dont think its pink eye, but who knows. The lids feel really warm and inflamed as usual. with the supposed incurable Blepharitis and Meibomian gland Dysfunction.

What would help with the burning, watering and inflammation, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

        Hi Grant,
you're not sure you don't have pink eye or some other kind of bacterial thing going on- I'd see the eye doctor as soon as I could. I know, I've come to hate these visits too-but sometimes it's the best thing to do. I hope you'll be feeling better soon. Please keep posting on how you're doing.

At least I got answers, I called my eye doc on call today, strange is these eyes. I am certain it must been the new supplements I'm on, stopped taken em for now. However this morning was burning like you wouldn't believe. Now strange thing is, calm my eyes have become still residual pain but calmed down, I called up the doc earlier when the pain was really bad, stated that he though I might have viral conjunctivitis due to the watering, told me to wait it out till Monday and see the doc first thing, Gonna get the tests and treatment done, I think the doc gonna check the meibomian glands, see how there working and how my ocular surface is lubricating. If that checks out, he probably thinks its viral or something...Told me to take it easy, Keep them eyes on the Artificial Tears and Nigh time ointment for lubrication and cold compresses for the inflammation, Thanks to Rebecca on the site for that Idea anyway toughing it out till Monday, Wish me luck that its not viral, however if its not I think I might have stumbled on a very big discovery as to the cause of the inflammation. Still under investigation as to the flare up, but by Monday I should know for sure. Will keep you all posted...
