  • Weird vein like bumps eyelid area

I have been trying to get an idea of what this possible symptom might be for at least six months. I have had mildly dry eyes for a few years and a big dry eye problem in my right eye only for the last several months. Also during the last several months, I was dx'd with Sjorgrens Syndrome and facial neuralgia on my right side.

A good six months ago, I noticed that when my eyes are closed, if I feel my closed eyelid on my LEFT side with the tip of my finger, it is very smooth...no veins, etc. However, if I run my finger over my closed eyelid on my RIGHT eye, I clearly feel weird vein like bumps. Sometimes, I have to push a little...but they are clearly there and only on or in the right eye or eyelid. Two eye docs can't feel it or don't think it is relevant (I guess). Neither commented.

I have little dry eye problem on the left side, but a big problem on the right, where this weird bumpy feeling is. I can wear a contact on the left eye, but have great trouble on the right eye.

Does anyone have a clue what this could be and if I should see a specialist or simply ignore it? Thank you.

This is just a guess but it could be GPC. Have you ever looked on the underside of your eyelid for bumps?

Still having problems finding my way around the site and looking for a dictionary. What is GPC? Thank you.

There's a sort of glossary here... though it doesn't have GPC as that's not really a dry eye thing. Agree with gormz re possibility - the contact is sure a clue. Did either of those doctors who ignored it actually flip your lids to see?

I have a low-grade chronic GPC in my left lid. It rarely flares up now because I try to be really careful of it. But one of the times I needed it treated, two really good doctors disagreed about what it was.

            Thank you.
            Rebecca/Gormz or anyone....
The optometrist did flip my eyelid over. The eye doc, did not.
What is the treatment for GPC? Does it ever go away?
